The dimensions of the building’s excavation are estimated to be 32 x 24 x 6 meters (Height x Width x Depth) according to this stereo extraction. Assuming a density of 2.2 gm/cm³ (typical for sandstone) the weight of the removed material is about 5-10 x10³ Kg. This leads to a very rough estimation for sculpting this masterpiece of 90 full years for one man at a digging rate of 15 minutes per 1 x 10 ^-3 m³ (which is strongly underestimated if we take into consideration sculpture work). This gives an upper bound for the time scale required to build this masterpiece.
